Thailand Travel and Foodhunting Diary Part 1

We were planning the Thailand Trip from November last year and consist group of four people. The idea was suddenly made by my dearest friend or I may say the best brother for me, Benny.
He suddenly said "Wanna try travel Thailand?" and that's why we were planning travelling there.
We are Mariani, Benny, Juliani and Me. Mariani the one that ever went there around 2 to 3 times, so we choose her to became our guide of course. :D

Day 1 - 14 March 2014
As what we discussed, we went to Kualanamu Airport by using Train because none of us were ever going by train, ahh... so shame, LOL.
I was the one that been choose to bought the Train ticket, and FYI guys, if you're going to airport by train that consist of 4 person, you'll get progressive promo of Idr 62.5k per person only. Quite cheap you know, because I ever heard that normal price was Idr 80k/person, is that true?

 (Railway Station - Medan)

Actually I loved the small hall of the information center, ticket counter, the cafe of Starbucks, Lobby that was all together in one Hall. Even small but so neat and clean, far from what I imagine (the negative one). Really loved the place, or because I never go to another city railway station so that I called this one was nice?

(Inside train)

The train was very new, clean and comfy. Ahh,so that's the feeling sat on train and saw the horizontal movement from outside view, truthly it was so comfy to be slept on the train.
It takes 37 minutes by train to airport and we avoided the traffic jam along the way to airport.

After arrived and checked in, we rushly went to Old town Coffee for having lunch, and it was Benny choice.
He can't stand more without smoking, what the........
But I have chance to review the place and the foods, thanks to Benny lah... "sing-lish expression", Lols.

I just ordered the Tuna Sandwich (Idr 32k) for lunch because we save empty stomach for having a buffet later at Thailand.
The Tuna Sandwich was very good, but just the bread, they didn't provide the sandwiches in warm. It will be more tasty if I can ate the bread that fresh from the toaster machine.

(Tuna Sandwich)

Then Benny and Juli ordered the Soup with Kwe-tiaw (Idr 35k) and Kaya Butter Toast (Idr 28k). The kwe-tiau as Juli said just so so, nothing special and a little tasteless. Expensive but tasteless, how come???

Maybe new comer to Medan? Oh please... because of new comer, they must served the best one. That's why I hardly see people who order food here, just a glass/cup of coffee while waiting for take off.

Hopefully the Kaya Butter Toast was excellent, but still not provide in warm absence.

We also ordered the coffee, but because of rushing the time, I forgot to snap the Coffee that we order.
Ahh.. pity me.
The coffee of Old town was good in Old town standard quality. :)

Okay then, let's fly up to the sky.
We were flying to Thailand with Air-Asia, because we got some promo tickets that can save our budgets for travel, eat and shopping more at Thailand - Bangkok, tehehe...

(Medan city view from the plane)

Arriving.....

We're arrived at Don Mueang Airport - Bangkok around 4 p.m and we directly reserved taxi to the hotel. I was shocked because a taxi from airport to hotel cost us 800baht (IDR 288k, in kurs 360/1 baht)???
It turned out that we reserved the Hi-bird Taxi, a sedan car, it was a bronze Camry man! Wooo...

(On the way to Hotel)

It take us 1 hour from airport to Hotel and stucked in traffic jam, my gosh! The taxi uncle said that it was rush hour time.
Yes it is, 5 pm and everybody were headed home then we're stucked, ahh great.

The Bangkok City Hotel(that we reserved) located at Petchburi road that was a very good access to the Mono-rail station, to Baiyoke Sky hotel and of course Siam Center (the shopping paradise).

Tadaa... we were arrived and in 20 minutes we're ready to have our buffet at Baiyoke Sky Hotel that cost us 800 baht per person. Quite expensive.

"Tuk-tuk, tuk-tuk come hereeee.... to Baiyoke Sky Hotel sir".
"100 baht miss"
Then we go. You know how the feeling while going with Tuk-tuk? Terrifying and real fast but it was FUN!

See my photo above? too fast and I snapped a blur photo. But guys, it was real fun and the streets was clean and less from pollution. Can my lovely hometown streets as clean as Thailand streets?

We arrived and Benny paid for the money. "Thank you sir, Sawadekhapppp.....", said the driver.

Nah.. Baiyoke Sky Hotel, the famous hotel that very crowded of the tourists, but it was kinda old Hotel.
Sorry guys, it was my the first time here so never known what Baiyoke Sky Hotel look alike, really far from what I imagined before came here :)

To be continue to the next post...
