Last 2 weeks, I've posted on my Instagram that I was back to my hometown for few days because of my lost (read : my grandpa passed away).

Along my day at Medan, I took some short free time to have family dinner at Datin Ong, located at Centre Point Mall.

I got this review from makanmana.net which they went to this place almost 2 to 4 times, it makes curious about that place which my daddy also loves Bak Kut Teh. 

The place have been designed so oriental and in chinese classic touch which we're also been companied by the Chinese oriental and oldies songs.

Guarantee you, Oldies would like to have fun here #crossfingers

Happy Duan Wu Festival (Duan Wu Jie)

Hello my dearest friends!

Happy Duan Wu Festival, which every year in Chinese calendar we celebrate this festival by having "Bak Cang", a Chinese traditional food which contain a lot of porkie inside.

Duan Wu Jie (端午节), which will always on date 5th on the 5th month (by looking from the Chinese calendar), was been celebrated to commemorate one of the Chinese litterateur name Qu Yuan [屈原].

As the Chinese history said that Qu Yan also one of the famous Chinese minister on the era of King Chun Qiu [春秋].

Qu Yuan advocated some politics views such as strengthening the Royal Military College, Strengthening Economic Empire, Using scribes and sages as well as allied with Qi kingdom against kingdom of Qin.  

But these suggestions are all challenged by the nobility. Qu Yuan was later dismissed from his ministry position and driven out of the capital city of the Kingdom of Chu and exiled to regions and regions Xiang Yuan. 

In the exile, Qu Yuan wrote several works of poetry that showed worrying to the State and its people.

The poems which were very influential among them is "Li Sau [离骚]", Wen Tian [天 问] "and" Jiu Ge [九歌] ". 

In the year 278 BC, Qin Royal Military forces overran the Capital of the Kingdom of Chu. Qu Yuan was very sad, her heart pierced as by torn by a thousand swords.  

But Qu Yuan still did not want to leave his beloved State so that, on the 5th of the 5th month on Lunar Calendar, Qu Yuan wrote his last poem work titled "Huai Sha [怀沙]" then hugging a big rock, Qu Yuan jumped into the river "Mi Luo [汨罗]". Qu Yuan sacrificed himself for the sake of loyalty and love for the country, the State of Chu. 

  

That's some short history of Duan Wu Jie which I learned from some simple sources from Internet.

Beside of the history, what I interest the most of course the "Bak Cang", right???

(I won't lied, that's what I waited the most every year :D)

Look at that delicious Bak Cang which I bought by online order from Medan.

It's so hard to be found here in Cibubur.

Full of pork, shitake mushroom and also the salted egg yolk inside the steam of the savour/sauteed glutinous rice.

Ichi Dough - Medan (CNY Holiday Season)

Bonjour!

I'm very sorry due my whole busy month of February and March.
It's been my extravagance routine at my office when my Boss give me a quite huge responsibility to handle some important task and handling some people.
* you know that's quite sucks when you're in position of handling people..ppffttt

Since I've got a little free time on this weekend, let me post about coffee shop at Medan when I visited with some friends on my CNY holiday last month.

Ichi Dough, from the name itself "dough", and yes they have bread store downstairs directly seen when you step in from the entrance door.

The design itself so chic with a lot of wood ornament with excellent brightness from outside and make all of my photos perfectly clear and contrast.

OO Pastries was my other Foodie place that I visited when I was in Medan.

Recommended by some of my friends that OO Pastries serves a very goodie Doughnuts and the place was simply designed with wood ornament and the exposure inside was just perfect!

I loved the theme with wood ornament and also green view from the outdoor area, the ambience is just great.

Pilastro Cafe & Pilasto Xpress - Medan (CNY Holiday Season)

I hope all of you the best of luck, health, and wealth in this year of 2016.
Since welcoming the CNY, I took off from office for a whole week to be spent at my lovely home-town, Medan, with my families and friends.

On that moment, I've got some time to visit some cafe and restaurant.
Street food and home-based restaurant too of course!

My first list was "Pilastro Cafe" which was my favourite coffee place at Medan.
Mr. Ben (one of the PIC...pssttt...) updated me long time before I flew to Medan that they opened the other Pilastro, called Pilastro Xpress.

Why Xpress?
Because the location was in a Shopping Mall which also was the centre of Civic Centre that you can see a lot of employees passing by.
They only have one hour resting time, so Pilastro Xpress serves the xpress food for them and they won't wait so long for lunch :)

Fook Yew - Grand Indonesia - Jakarta

Welcome to the world of Chinese Oriental Cuisine! But this is not made in China, states the quotes when you enter "Fook Yew" at Grand Indonesia.

This time because tired of walking and did some shopping at Grand Indonesia, then we choose to take some foot rest at Fook Yew because of having interest of the Oldies Chinese Interior Design.

PS : Eye Catching!

You can see the "Meow-meow Welcoming Cat" statue standing in the centre of the entering way, in Chinese we called it "Lucky go-Cat".

Wine & Meat Co. - Pantai Indah Kapuk - Jakarta

It's been 8 months I lived and worked at Cibubur - Bogor.

Kinda fun and sometimes excited to search for new place because afraid of being lost!

But nowadays, the technology from the software that serves us the Google-Maps media allow us easily to find place or address that we don't know.

Kiyadon Sushi, Emporium Mall - Jakarta

As I am sushi lover, yesterday I went to Kiyadon Sushi for having lunch with my boyfie.

It's a blind choose for the lunch, because we loves the calm and quiet places and we saw that Kiyadon Sushi that catch our eyes to look and feel the ambience inside.
So.. let's eat!

Madam Rich, Baywalk Mall - Jakarta

Yahoooo! Ocean view :D
I loved Ocean-view so much, moreover the windy wind blows over my face, it was so calm.
And look! The deep blue ocean present that Indonesia have a very beautiful view.

You can see and enjoy the beauty of Ocean view from Baywalk Mall that located at Jakarta. Here's the direction.

Mostly after I live temporary at Java area, I often go to Baywalk Mall because of the view!
Lastly I enjoyed my late lunch with my fellow friends at Madam Rich, we choose outside table to enjoy the windy wind and the view of course.

Madam Rich, a restaurant that mostly present the Malaysian Cuisine in which they have Malay-Indian cuisine and baba-nonya cuisine also.

Uhmm! Malaysian touche :)

TWG Tea Time, Pacific Place - Jakarta

I hope all of you were doing very well as I was doing well now in Cibubur - West Java.

As you know, I starting to love the life at Cibubur, not too crowded, very calmly and still the nature was well-preserved.
But sometimes you will feel very bored because at Cibubur, the entertain places still very rare. 
Oh.. but there's quite lot of restaurants, cafe and street foods around here.

Talking about "boredom", me and my boyfie take time on weekend and went to Pacific Place Mall at Jakarta.
For us, it's only took 40 minutes from Cibubur to Jakarta, depends on the traffic also #lols.

After seeing around and window shopping around Pacific Place, we're kind of tired of walking then I suggest my boyfie to have tea time for relax. Firstly he didn't want because it's kind of high-price tea.

Yes it is quite high costed, but the better you pay the better quality you can taste. So I persuade him to go there and I teach him a bit about what is call high quality tea.

Sometime when Me and some friends visits Shopping Mall, we always ended up badly for choosing a place to have coffee break or even having a meal.

Yes, I assume it, because I still don't know J-town that deep like Medan.
But sometimes the choices not all ended up badly, like when we choose to have a seat on Marche.

Marche located inside Grand Indonesia Shopping Mall, in which they made the concept of Italian cuisine by self-service order.
Simply saying, a food-court.

You can have Italian cuisine here from the appetizer, entre, desserts, and the beverage.

Thai Alley, Gandaria City Mall - Jakarta

I'm on my Eid Holiday to enjoy Food Hunt at Jakarta.
Happy Eid Mubarak 2015 for all of you that celebrate the Eid :)

Talking about food hunting, I miss how the Thai cuisine kickin up my appetite.

So we do plan to visit around Gandaria, yes Gandaria City Mall and we have a lot of time to enjoy the Mall then last step was always a restaurant or cafe.

I do stop by Thai Alley near the entrance Lobby to enjoy some Thai food, as I said that I miss the Thai food so much.
Looking at the Menu, I was just directly thinking about Pad Thai and Pad siew.

Hello my dearest friends!
It's been very long time I don't even in-charge of my blog, one word "Sorry" :(

FYI, I moved to Cibubur, Bogor for good living now because I got new job/carrier here.
As usual, normally works from Monday - Saturday and I spend my culinary hunting only every Sunday.

Sometime I hunt for foods at Jakarta and sometime at Cibubur only, they together have own Food character that made me want to know and learn deeper. 

First post at Jakarta, let me show you Hong Tang (Sweet Poultry) that I visited with some colleagues at Central Park - Jakarta.

Actually it's not different with Medan F&B development, Taiwan cuisine especially in dessert were so famous and very booming here.

The range price were almost same with Medan too, within Idr 25k - 50k.

Rons Laboratory Social Media Gathering - Medan

Hi there, I'm so sorry that I've been missing a few months.

You know somekind of crazy jobs awaiting me day by day and my lappie was not working well.

Social Media Gathering at "Kinley Thai Bistro" - Medan

Hello dearest readers and friends!
This time I need to share with you a simple event that held by Kinley Thai Bistro.
Actually me and some others friends from social media (Instagram I mean) been invited to the introduction of Thailand Street Food Cuisine.

Some of our Social Media friends were from Aplaus_magazine , Digi_magazine , Own_id , makanhalalmedan , Kulinermedan , Surga_kuliner and so on.
We've been introduced by the owner himself, Mr.Bobby and his wife about the dishes they served that day and of course meet the exclusive Chefs themselves.

Why Thailand/Bangkok street food?

Renjiro Sushi - Medan

Sushi...sushi... who doesn't love japan cuisine?
Maybe some of you doesn't love to crave for japan cuisine because of the fishy smell, right?
Despite of that, as for me japan cuisine will be my always favorite choice.

Starting from when I did promises with my mom to take her for having dinner at sushi place, then she quiet interest about Renjiro Sushi.
Then I do pay my promises and took her for having dinner there.

Japan restaurants were also separated widely and fast in Medan City, such as you know the famous one Sushitei, the other one Itcho Sushi, Sushi boat and so on.
Renjiro Sushi served best sushi and other japan foods also, the place also nice and neat. The waiters and waitress were so friendly.

Usually if you enter a Japan Restaurant they will greet you so friendly with Japanese language, I don't know how to spell it, hahaha.. pity me

Pilastro Anniversary with Ronald Prasanto and Muhammad Aga - Medan

This is a very late post due my busy and full time jobs.
I've been there at Pilastro 1st Anniversary last 27 August 2014, and what a big chance that Mr.Ronald Prasanto (the expertise of Indonesia Molecular Gastronomy) and Muhammad Aga (who win second place of IBC 2014).

They were so friendly and welcoming us to the Anniversary event. Some of food blogger also invited such as makanmana , lensa kuliner and some more to attended the event.

We've been invited before the D-day, so we have chance to know these 2 amazing and talented people more better and they also gave us some introductions about coffee, latte, manual brew and also the molecular gastronomy too.

India Cuisine "Gitz 88" - Medan

It's truly to be said that Medan was the best known Culinary Town in Indonesia.

And now let me present you about India Cuisine at Gitz'88.

Located at the place that mostly India citizen lived here, we called it "Kampung Keling". It's really easy to find the place, just ask the taxi driver or somebody out there, they'll show you the place.

The area was near the Sun Plaza, mostly know Shopping Mall at Medan.

You can find many India people here and shops that sells India things. 

Talking about India, let's turn to the foods. I came here several weeks ago with friend to have a try on Indian foods at Gitz'88.

The restaurant was cozy, clean and of course Indian songs everywhere :)

Nonya Baba Cuisine at Spoon Dining "Grand Aston Hotel" - Medan

I've just got message from one of the PR from Grand Aston Hotel Medan that invited me for food tasting of the newly launching "Hybrid" cuisine that we can said it Peranakan cuisine with the Theme "Nonya Baba Dining Buffet".

I was really happy and this also the second time I've been invited for the Culinary Launching at Grand Aston Hotel, what a honor!

They served the cuisine that mixed the Melayu cuisine and Tionghua Cuisine. Usually in Malaysia we called it Nonya Cuisine or mostly known "Masakkan Peranakan".
What a great idea that they served the Buffet Dining with this kind of theme so that the oldies also can enjoy the foods without curious of what kind of foods the Hotel served.
